NSU Choirs seek budding singers who wish to continue their love of choral music through participation in our ensembles. While many singers choose to matriculate in one of the degree programs offered by the Music Department, others simply participate in our choirs for the marvelous experience it provides while majoring in other disciplines. Each semester the choirs render recruitment concerts in local, state, and out-of state high schools to demonstrate the breadth of our choral offerings and share a wealth of information about Norfolk State University. While applications are provided and received for those who wish to apply, those who wish to participate in our choral program are usually auditioned for placement and/or choral scholarship consideration. An on campus audition can also be arranged by contacting the Director of Choral Activities. New and transfer students are encouraged to apply for scholarships, grants, and loans, cited in the NSU Financial Guide (See Financial Aid) and Choral Scholarship awarded by NSU Choirs. Choral scholarships are awarded to qualified vocalists who demonstrate vocal artistry and superb musicianship. These full and partial tuition awards to music and non-majors require participation in assigned choral ensembles.
